CONSCIOUS CHOICE
The expected traffic and impact on the floor can already be considered in the design phase of a building. Busy patterns and higher contrast in colours hide scratches, light colours are more forgiving for scratches than dark colours.
Harsh conditions have been simulated in our laboratory to evaluate the relationship between colour and design choice on the appearance of a floor in use. The new visuals Shimmer and Confetti are designed and perfectly suitable for places where extreme scratch resistance is required.
Effects of micro scratching, abrasion by sand and light scratching from sharp objects can largely be removed by dry buffing of the floor. The luster of the SMART top finish gets restored and the original look of the floor is maintained.

Investing in appropriate chair legs pays off: • Reduced maintenance efforts and cost • Extend the lifetime of the floor
Whether it is a project where new furniture is applied, or a renovation where existing chairs are reused, in many cases the gliders are not suitable for use on floors. Many combinations of flooring and protectors were tested by Forbo’s research department. Chair legs with hard ends give a higher risk on gloss marks and scratches, whilst soft gliders with felt are proven to be the best choice. Timely cleaning and replacement of the protectors is recommended to prolong the lifetime of the floor.
With an elastic floor such as homogeneous vinyl, office chairs should be equipped with wheels with a soft tread of, for example, polyurethane. Ask your local Forbo contact for detailed advice.
